Heart of Melbourne is owned and run by the cardiologists that consult with our patients, ensuring each and every patient is assessed and cared for to the highest standard. We offer face to face consults, an extensive telehealth network, and consistent, in-depth care, even extending to external specialists attending our clinics to consult with our patients.

Heart of Melbourne accepts all referrals for testing and consultations, including indefinite GP referrals to manage ongoing care in cases of life long cardiac issues. We endeavour to provide all diagnostic testing services with high standards, and offer rebates on out of pocket fees. Our team will be happy to discuss these fees at any time.

Through our secure network, Heart of Melbourne offer for you to fill in your registration form online, via a link to your mobile phone, which minimises waiting times in clinic, and assist us to run punctual appointments with minimal disruption to your day. Consultations can take up to 30 minutes with the cardiologist, and tests may be longer. We endeavour to offer you suitable appointment times with cardiologists available 6 days a week across our sites, and if you need to take time away from work to attend, we can offer you a medical certificate on request.

Heart of Melbourne cardiologists may suggest further investigations, and review appointments which can be booked on the day, or later on if necessary. An SMS reminder service is utilised throughout all our sites, to ensure you are kept up to date with your appointments and limit the need for cancellations or rescheduling, however our friendly team will be happy to assist you if the need arises.

Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic at Heart of Melbourne provides a direct and timely access to expert cardiology assessment and investigation for chest pain syndromes. We aim to perform the urgent investigations on the day or within one week of clinic review. Investigations may include:

  • Exercise treadmill test

  • CT coronary angiography

  • Myocardial perfusion scans

  • Stress echocardiography

  • Invasive coronary angiography

 

The clinic offers a quick review of referred outpatients, without a waiting list or prolonged waiting times, to expedite outpatient assessment. Patients will be seen once at the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic and, if further cardiology follow-up is required, this will be discussed with the patient and organised accordingly. Appropriate patients for the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic include chest pain suspected to be of cardiac origin, new symptoms/recent onset of chest pain, Increasing chest pain, or change in pattern of chest pain, chest pain of uncertain aetiology, or other chest pain of concern. Patients with suspected acute coronary syndromes (ACS) should referred to the Emergency Department, or discussed directly with the Cardiologist on 1300 122 888.​

Telehealth can be convenient when you require access to your specialist doctor. Our extensive telehealth network means we are able to attend to all patients through video to remote and rural locations.
