PROFILE

A/Prof Zahra Alizadeh Sani is a Consultant Cardiologist and Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging Specialist with extensive clinical, academic and research experience in cardiology and multimodality cardiovascular imaging.

​

Her clinical practice encompasses general cardiology, with particular interests in women’s cardiovascular health, preventive cardiology and cardiovascular risk assessment, coronary artery disease, heart failure and cardiomyopathies, hypertension, valvular heart disease, and cardiac arrhythmias.

​

She has extensive expertise in non-invasive cardiovascular imaging, including transthoracic and stress echocardiography, cardiac CT and CT coronary angiography, and cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR). She has undertaken advanced cardiovascular imaging training at internationally recognised centres across Europe, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Prior to practising in Australia, A/Prof Alizadeh Sani held senior academic and clinical leadership positions, including Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Imaging at Iran University of Medical Sciences and Head of the Cardiac MRI Department at Omid Hospital, Tehran. She also held an Adjunct Professor appointment at Amirkabir University of Technology.

She has played an active role in the development of cardiovascular imaging education and professional collaboration, including leadership within cardiovascular MRI and involvement with international cardiovascular imaging organisations. She was a founding member of the Iranian Cardiovascular Imaging Association and contributed to the development of advanced cardiovascular imaging education and training.

Her academic work spans cardiovascular imaging, artificial intelligence and computational approaches to cardiovascular diagnosis. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and two postgraduate cardiovascular imaging textbooks and created the Z-Alizadeh Sani Cardiovascular Dataset, which has been used internationally in cardiovascular artificial intelligence and machine-learning research.

Her professional and academic achievements include a Gold Medal at the Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, recognition for cardiovascular imaging research, and a United States patent arising from her work in cardiovascular diagnostic innovation.

 

A/Prof Alizadeh Sani is passionate about integrating compassionate, patient-centred cardiovascular care with advanced imaging, prevention and emerging technologies to enable earlier diagnosis, personalised risk assessment and better cardiovascular outcomes.
