Heart of Melbourne recently had the pleasure of hosting a GP education session in partnership with ANZAPP (Australian and New Zealand Association of Physicians of Pakistani descent). The event brought together GPs for a valuable and engaging update on current topics in cardiac care.

A/Prof M. Asrar Ul Haq delivered a comprehensive overview of Heart Failure, followed by an interactive ECG crash course. His presentation helped GPs sharpen their ECG interpretation skills and provided helpful guidance on recognising early signs of heart failure in the primary care setting.

Dr. Nigel Sutherland followed with an insightful talk on Atypical Chest Pain, as well as the use of Calcium Scoring and CT Coronary Angiography (CTCA) in cardiac risk assessment. His talk focused on when to consider advanced imaging and how to approach diagnostic uncertainty with confidence.
The session was filled with practical takeaways and encouraged open discussion between GPs and cardiologists. Events like this strengthen the connection between primary and specialist care , and ultimately help deliver better outcomes for patients.
A big thank you to ANZAPP and all the GPs who joined us for an afternoon of learning and collaboration.
